HOSPITAL porters in the Capital threw walkie-talkies onto the roof of a bar during a drinking session, it has been claimed.

Staff members from the Western General hospital are under investigation over the alleged incident, said to have taken place in the city’s Telford Arms pub.

The workers, who were wearing their uniforms at the time, have also been accused of throwing bottles into a nearby car park.

George Curley, director of operations for facilities at NHS Lothian, said: “We have not previously received any information about these allegations.

“However we take claims of this nature seriously and have started an investigation into the matter. While we promote good and proper behaviour at work and, within the wider community, we understand from our initial enquires that the staff in question were all off-duty at the time of the alleged incident.”
