ONE half of the Proclaimers is to take part in a charity run in Edinburgh to raise money for cancer research.
Charlie Reid, who is a patron of the St Andrews-based Association for International Cancer Research, will participate in the Bupa Great Edinburgh Run on October 2.
The Leith-born musician is writing the band’s ninth album along with brother Craig.
He said: “I am delighted to be running for a Scottish-based charity, doing such vital research across the world, that we have supported for a number of years.
“I’m looking forward to it very much.”
Charity chiefs, who suggested the idea before a gig last year, said the band’s backing would help their cause. To support the run, visit www.justgiving.com/charliegreatrun or visit www.aicr.org.uk.
