A HEARTS fan is to stand trial accused of hurling furniture across a busy pub after a match last season, a court heard.

John Meikle, 31, is alleged to have “acted aggressively” and committed a breach of the peace at the Lloyds Capital bar in Dundee’s Seagate on April 27 last year. Dundee Sheriff Court heard yesterday that he is accused of “culpably and recklessly throwing an item of furniture through the air causing it to strike the bar area to the danger of the lieges”.

Meikle, of Wester Drylaw Park, denies the charge.
