Hearts star Ian Black’s trial is delayed

THE trial of Hearts midfielder, Ian Black, which had been due to take place next Tuesday, has now been adjourned until February of next year.

Black, 26, was not present in Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday when his agent, Andrew Houston, asked for the adjournment to allow him adequate time to prepare.

Mr Houston said his client maintained his not guilty plea to a charge of being in possession of cocaine at the Lava & Ignite nightclub in the city’s Tollcross on May 16 this year.

Mr Houston told Sheriff David Hall that he had received information from The Crown, which he was investigating, but he did not believe that would be completed before the trial date.

Fiscal Depute, Michelle Young, said The Crown did not object to the adjournment.

Black was excused attendance at the Intermediate Diet on January 17.
