AN APPEAL has been launched to find a home this Christmas for a lonely dog described as “one of the friendliest you could ever meet”.
Two year old staffie Rocco loves being around people so much that when he’s left on his own he becomes very distressed.
Poor Rocco finds kennel life unbearable so he spends most of his time keeping staff company in the reception area of the SSPCA centre where he is living.
Centre Manager Marion Hainey said: “It’s clear from the way Rocco
behaves in his kennel that he’s never experienced solitude before and he just can’t relax unless he’s got someone close by for comfort and support.
“He’s one of the friendliest dogs you could ever meet, he just adores being around people and will roll over for a tummy rub as soon as you start to pet him.
“In company he’s such a contented, happy lad who skips along on his lead when he’s out walking and gets on well with other dogs he meets.
“Despite our reassurances he finds kennel life very tough and he whines and struggles to settle down and relax. It’s so hard for us to hear him breaking his heart in this way.
“We’re very keen to find Rocco a loving, permanent home with someone who is able to spend lots of time with him and who is willing to help him understand that it’s okay to be left alone for a little while.”
Anyone who can offer Rocco a home is being urged to contact the Scottish SPCA’s Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre 03000 999 999.
