TRAGIC football starlet David Paul, who was found dead in his bed by his parents, died of heart disease, his death certificate has revealed.
The talented Hibs teenager had ischaemic heart disease – a disease characterised by a reduced blood supply to the heart. The death certificate also lists coronary artery athero-sclerosis, which narrows the arteries.
David, 18, who played for Hibs Under-20s side, was found dead in his room just four days before Christmas after he failed to come down for breakfast. He had been at a party with his teammates the night before.
His dad Gordon, 52, and mum Helen, 51, described at the time how they were “devastated” by his death.
David’s sister Jennifer passed away in similar circumstances in 2008, aged 16.
Terry Butcher and Pat Fenlon were among the mourners at David’s funeral.
