Hibs star O’Connor to face cocaine trial

HIBS striker Garry O’Connor is to stand trial next year accused of possessing cocaine.

O’Connor, 28, denies possessing the class A drug at Hope Street Lane, Edinburgh, on May 14 this year.

He is also accused of resisting, obstructing and hindering two on-duty police officers who were trying to establish his details, as well as attempting to run away from them.

O’Connor did not appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, but depute fiscal Iain Batho said a letter had been received on his behalf from defence solicitors Liam O’Donnell & Co that confirmed his plea of not guilty.

His case is due to be called again on January 25 next year, before the trial the following month.

The striker was charged shortly after rejoining Hibs.
