High-octane sport hits the lake

SCOTLAND’S first cable-tow wakeboarding centre is launching next month with a host of the sport’s top UK riders showcasing their skills.

The cable-powered facility at Foxlake in East Lothian will open on June 30 and is expected to draw visitors to the area – in particular, teenagers keen to try their hand at the high-octane sport.

The firm behind the venture has been transformed into a community interest company and is working with community organisations, including VDEL and Cycle Dunbar.

Foxlake has plans to expand into two further lakes next year.

James Barbour, director of Foxlake, said: “I am delighted to be bringing, along with the Foxlake team, such an exciting sporting venture to my home county.

“I feel this facility bridges the gap for teenagers and provides for the adventure enthusiasts. We are delighted to have been able to employ five of our six staff locally from within the Dunbar area.”
