HISTORIC Scotland was “leant on” not to object to plans for a wind farm substation on the site of the Battle of Prestonpans, a community activist has claimed.
East Lothian Council granted permission for the controversial Inch Cape proposal last week. Gareth Jones, a member of the Battle of Prestonpans Heritage Trust 1745, said Historic Scotland had dropped its original objections to the scheme. He said: “It is pressure from above that is making them make statements that are not actually what they believe personally.”
Historic Scotland’s website says proposals to build on the Battle of Prestonpans site “would not have a significant impact on the battlefield landscape”.
