Hogmanay revellers get ticket to ride

Revellers at the Capital’s Hogmanay celebrations will not have to worry about their journey home this New Year – after drinks business Diageo teamed up with the organisers to provide free bus travel home for all out enjoying the festivities in the city.

The free travel on the city’s bus networks, operated by Lothian Buses, is open to anyone out attending Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Street Party, Concert in the Gardens or The Keilidh. Last year the Hogmanay free transport helped nearly 20,000 revellers make their way home across Edinburgh quickly and safely.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh Council, said: “It’s vital that we do what we can to help people get home safe and sound after seeing in the bells at the World’s Best Street Party.”

Pete Irvine, Artistic Director of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, said “The support from Diageo will provide a safe, reliable and free transport system at the end of the night on New Year’s Eve.”
