Shoppers had some surprise entertainment this afternoon when over 600 dancers took to the Mound as part of a global dance event.

School pupils from across the city were joined by drivers from Edinburgh cab firm Central Taxis, and members of the public for a 10-minute routine kicked off by the one o’clock gun.

The dance-off, coordinated in Edinburgh by Scottish national dance organisation Dancebase, was part of the global Big Dance Pledge, which featured over 64,000 dancers in 500 locations across 24 countries.
