‘I love you’ shout moments after glass smashed in face

A GAY man shouted “I love you” at his partner moments after smashing a glass in his face at a Leith house.

Jordan Palmer, 21, from East Craigs, brutally assaulted Ross Sneddon during a boozy night out at a friend’s house in March, Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard yesterday.

Depute procurator fiscal Dev Kapadia told Sheriff Fiona Reith QC that the pair had been dating for nine months when they fell out after consuming a bottle of wine each.

Mr Kapadia said: “They began arguing and retreated to a nearby bedroom. The accused pushed the complainer onto the bed. The complainer then tried to leave. It was at this point that the accused smashed a wine glass into his forehead.

“The other witnesses heard the sound of smashing glass and shouting. They saw the complainer shout ‘Look at what you’ve done to me’.

“The accused then shouted ‘I love you’.”

Sentence was deferred until next month for the court to obtain reports.
