it’s all part of growing up

Kirsty Mathieson, seven, helped with harvesting at Craigie’s Farm in South Queensferry, as part of a visit by Cargilfield School in Barton.

The school is one of the first to use a new scheme which sees city get a taste of farming life. Food manufacturer VION has teamed up with the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET) in a three year-deal to provide educational farm visits for schools.

“We are delighted that VION has come on board,” said RHET manager Alison Motion. “We should be able to extend visits to give children an insight into livestock production and processing.”
