IT’s a way to help youth

AROUND 200 computer experts from across the country have volunteered to bed down for the night in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park to raise awareness of youth homelessness.

Armed with just sleeping bags, the volunteers will brave the Scottish weather on October 7 for Byte Night, the IT industry’s annual sleep-out in support of leading children’s charity Action for Children.

Last year, 86 sleepers raised £46,000 to fight youth homelessness and social deprivation.

Grant McFarlane of Action for Children said: “The support and enthusiasm for Byte Night has been incredible and we’re grateful to all the teams and individuals for taking part.”

Sleepers have been recruited from a range of companies including BSkyB, BT Openreach, Ernst & Young, Dell and Amazon.
