James Heatly and Grace Reid claim win at Scottish Champs

Edinburgh divers James Heatly and Grace Reid both won events over the weekend at the Scottish National and Open Diving Championships at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.

In the men’s 3 metre event on Saturday, Edinburgh Diving Club’s Heatly was in fine form in the heats to post 398.50 points from his six dives. He followed that up in the final with 388.30 points to finish first ahead of Jack Haslam from the City of Sheffield on 366.35 points.

To cap a fine Saturday Edinburgh Diving Club teenager Lucas Thomson claimed the third podium spot by posting 318.40 points.

Yesterday Reid, who is originally from the Capital but now competes for Dive London Aquatics Club, won the women’s 3 metre event. After coasting through the heats she posted 288.35 points from her five dives in the final to finish top.

In the men’s 10 metre event Heatly finished second and Thomson was third. Aidan Heslop, from Plymouth Diving, was first in the final with 393.15 points with Heatly posting 351.75 points and Thomson 348.15 points.
