Judge jails drug courier

POLICE seized a drug consignment which could have fetched £322,000 on the streets, a court has heard.

Adam McLoughlin, 25, had brought 1.7 kilos of heroin to Edinburgh in an attempt to pay off a debt to loan sharks, said defence QC Edward Targowski.

Also in the Vauxhall Corsa which was stopped on the City Bypass on June 11 was a mixture of paracetamol and caffeine, to dilute the heroin.

McLoughlin, of Holmbrook Road, Liverpool, was jailed for 40 months after admitting being concerned in the supply of the drug.
