Jury fails to reach verdict

A JURY was sent home yesterday without reaching a verdict on a builder accused of attempting to murder his ex-girlfriend and murdering the new man in her life.

A trial at the High Court in Edinburgh has heard how firefighters discovered the couple in a flat in the Grange area of the city.

Chef Stewart Taylor, 33, who had suffered a massive skull fracture, died and bookies assistant Lynsey Methven, 30, was left severely injured – including the loss of sight in one eye. Builder Frank Moore, 43, denies attacking the pair in Ms Methven’s flat in Chalmers Crescent on the morning of February 7, claiming he was in his own home at Bothwell Street.

The nine women and five men on the jury were continuing their deliberations today.
