Key moment for centre in Craigmillar

THE keys have been handed over to the city council ahead of the opening of a new library and community centre.

City leader Andrew Burns took control of the new East Neighbourhood Centre and Craigmillar Library, which opens officially on November 26.

The three-storey building, which was built on time and on budget, cost £7.7 million and has created 16 jobs.

Cllr Burns said: “This has been another excellent partnership with South East Scotland Ltd to deliver a new library and community hub for the people living in the east of Edinburgh.

“We’re very excited to open the doors to the public later in the year.

“I’ve no doubt this will be a valuable resource for the local community – bringing many of the services provided by both the council and our partners under one roof.”
