Killer hurt in prison attack

The ringleader of a gang convicted of abducting and murdering a teenager in a race-hate attack has been assaulted in prison.

Imran Shahid, 34, was jailed in November 2006, with his brother Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Mushtaq, for the murder of 15-year-old Kriss Donald, who was stabbed 13 times and set on fire while he was still alive.

Shahid, who is serving 25 years behind bars, was attacked on Monday night by another prisoner at the city’s Saughton jail. He is understood to have minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. Shahid is said to have been recently moved to Saughton, from Shotts Prison in North Lanarkshire.
