THE killer of an Edinburgh Chinese delivery driver is back behind bars after breaking his parole conditions.
John Reid, 21, was sentenced to five years in prison for the culpable homicide of 40-year-old Simon San in August 2010, but was released in 2013 after serving just three years.
Reid, from Pilton, is understood to have been recalled to jail last July having originally been let out under the automatic early release system. But the Scottish Prison Service and the Crown Office refused to confirm how Reid had broken the conditions of his early release.
Police dealing with the killing of Mr San later apologised to his family for failing to record and investigate the attack as a racist incident. An investigation found officers had failed to take into account the fact that Mr San’s attackers had called him a racial slur.
