Landlord set to raise rents

MIDLOTHIAN’S largest registered social landlord has announced that rents are to rise by four per cent.

Melville Housing Association said the change, which is below inflation, would take effect from April 1, with staff pay scales remaining frozen for a second consecutive year.

The association said the rise will mean an average increase of about £2.60 per week and was agreed following detailed consultation with tenants earlier this year.
