SHE has expertly swept her make-up brush across the faces of a string of A-list stars.

And now 28-year-old Lauren Gollan from Chesser has launched Edinburgh’s first-ever celebrity make-up school.

Lauren, who has worked her magic on everyone from Kate Middleton to Kate Moss, launched the Lauren Gollan Academy of Make-Up Artistry on North Castle Street earlier this month.

Since completing an HNC in Beauty Therapy at Telford College in 2000, Lauren has gone on to do professional make up for celebrities including actresses Keira Knightley, Tilda Swinton and Sienna Miller, as well as singers Rihanna and Pixie Lott, and model Claudia Schiffer.

The Academy currently offers two six-week courses – Introduction to Make-up Artistry and Introduction to Editorial Make-up Artistry – which are designed to introduce students to the finer details of make-up artistry.

A three-week course, Introduction to Beauty Bridal, will be launched in January.

Lauren, who is also gives one-to-one make-up lessons and even offers home tutoring, has worked as a make-up artist for the last nine years, which has included working with models at international fashion weeks in London and Paris.

Other highlights include working at the Elle Style Awards with Claudia Schiffer in Berlin, and at Paris Couture with Stella McCartney and Kate Moss in 2009.

Despite regularly being in the company of celebrities, Lauren doesn’t allow nerves to get the better of her.

“I have never been nervous; I’m always more interested in doing the make-up,” she said.

“I’m just the same person with them as I am with my friends, and that’s always worked well for me.

“I think if you start to get nervous or worked up, they can recognise that.

“Kate Moss is one of my idols and she’s somebody who I got really excited about, and I thought maybe it would possibly be a bit nerve-wracking seeing her, but I you just need to remember they’re like you and I.

“I’ve never been in a situation where I’ve been shaking or not in control. As soon as you look like you’re not in control, they are not going to trust you.”

Lauren also did Kate Middleton’s make-up for the charity fashion show at St Andrews University in 2002, at which she wore the see-through dress which is said to have caught the eye of Prince William.

“Kate was lovely and dead chatty,” Lauren said.
