Over the weekend thousands of young people took to pitches, pools and courts across the Lothians in pursuit of their own sporting goals.
For most of them it is a familiar routine as they return to venues they know well from hundreds - or even thousands - of hours of training.
The weekends are usually different because that is competition time.
It is do or die time.
It is when all those long practised routines are put to the test against well drilled opposition.
It just so happens that one of those going through that familiar routine was one Grace Reid.
Grace learned to dive at the Commie Pool where she spent endless hours honing her strength and skills.
This time she emerged from the same pool as European champion.
Her story is a fantastic inspiration to all those other young sportswomen and men across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
And her incredible achievements show the spectacular heights it is possible to reach.
Of course none of it would have been possible without first class sports facilities in the Capital.
Just think what might happen if we had more of those.
