Leukaemia survivor off and running
Alison Gillespie, 21, will run the half marathon on September 18 to raise money for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
The event is expected to involve 54,000 runners.
Alison, who was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 18 after going to hospital with a sore knee, went through five months of gruelling treatment, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, at the Western General Hospital before receiving a life-saving bone marrow transplant in December 2008.
