SPECIAL awards are to be created at Liberton High School in memory of Keane Wallis-Bennett and fellow pupil Jamie Skinner who died just months apart.

Promising footballer Jamie, 13, collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack as he played for Tynecastle FC last December.

The prizes will be presented to top achievers at the school’s prize-giving ceremony next month as a mark of respect to Keane and Jamie.

Headteacher Stephen Kelly said: “Jamie and Keane were very popular and outstanding pupils.”

Keane’s mum Abbie Wallis said: “It means a lot. I have been asked to go along to the prize-giving. It will be a special occasion and it’s nice to know Keane and Jamie will be remembered.”
