A FORMER National Library IT boss who was jailed for stealing £500,000 from his employers spent the money on expensive technical equipment and holidays.

David Dinham, 35, who had control over the historic institution’s huge budgets, was released last year after being jailed in 2011 for his “complex and sophisticated” crime.

It has now been revealed that he spent £33,000 at John Lewis and over £15,000 on books and IT equipment from Amazon.

His purchases included a £1100 Apple computer and a £3500 Sony monitor.

Around £150,000 of the money he stole was recovered and a court order is in place to recoup further money from his future earnings.
