Lift your spirits by visiting bluebells

Three Lothians woods have been named in Scotland’s top 20 for bluebells. Woodland Trust Scotland said Ravelston Woods in Edinburgh, Beeslack Wood in Penicuik, Midlothian, and Brock Wood in Dunbar, East Lothian were among the country’s best.

The organisation says a visit to bluebell woods is a good way of calming the mind.

The Trust’s Andrew Fairbairn said: “A bluebell wood at this time of year is actually one of nature’s great tranquilisers and mood improvers, and it is free of charge, with no side-effects.

“The news seems grim and the world is an anxious place right now. You could say we have a collective case of the blues. So we invite you to harness the blues-busting power of these flowers.”
