Linlithgow Rose recorded their first Super League win since January with a 2-1 defeat of Scottish Junior Cup finalists Musselburgh Athletic at Prestonfield last night.

Danny Smith’s side recovered from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Armadale Thistle on Saturday to jump up to fourth place, although they have little chance of winning the title.

However, Burgh who took the lead prior to the half-time break when striker Steven Thomson headed in at the back post for his third goal in as many games.

Rose restored parity through striker Colin Strickland on 50 minutes and he then secured a much-needed three points with 20 minutes remaining after goalkeeper Ally Adams couldn’t hold onto Kevin Kelbie’s shot and he fired in from close range.

Dundonald Bluebell beat Armadale Thislte 5-2 in the quarter-final of the DJ Lang Cup.
