Livingston '˜sneak-in' theft bags four-figure sum

POLICE in Livingston are appealing for witnesses after a four-figure sum of money was stolen from an elderly woman's property.

The sneak-in theft happened sometime between 10:30am and 3:40pm on Wednesday, February 10, at an address on Darwin Street.

The woman was not within the premises at the time of the incident.

Officers are now carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area and reviewing local CCTV in an effort to trace whoever is responsible.

Constable Sidney Shaw based at Livingston police station said: “Our investigation is ongoing and I’d be interested to hear from anyone who observed any suspicious activity in or around the area of Darwin Street around the time of this incident.

“Offences of this nature are relatively rare however many thieves are opportunistic. Today I urge everyone to be aware of this threat and to remember to secure your home and outbuildings.

“It’s also worth, whenever possible, hiding valuable items from view and please don’t leave keys in places where a potential intruder can find or reach them.”
