The school - which has facilities for training both indoor and outdoor riders - also provides horses for beach rides, country rides and all border common ridings, while ponies are provided for Gala Days and birthday parties.
Offering something slightly different from the usual track riding, Harelaw Equestrian Centre offers even novice riders the opportunity to take to the beaches of East Lothian. The school does specialise in weight-carrying Irish draft horses, but ponies are also available for those looking for a little bit of a lighter trekking experience.
Established in 1972 by husband and wife team Ian & Elizabeth Comrie, Houston has retained its affordable family aesthetic.
The well-respected school is approved by the Association of British Riding Schools and the British Horse Society, so even beginner riders are in good hands.
