Lothian wins timber award

A LEADING environmental organisation has presented East Lothian Council with a bronze award for responsible procurement of timber.

The WWF award is part of a scheme to encourage councils to appreciate the importance of valuing forest resources.

A spokesman said: “We are currently working towards the silver pledge, which will involve making a commitment to not purchase any timber or paper product without knowing the source of the wood and choosing a project where only recycled or sustainable timber products will be used.”
