Maggy’s pebble dash will mark new town’s 50 years

ARTIST Maggy Howarth has been commissioned to mark Livingston’s 50th anniversary with a hand-made pebble mosaic.

The 67-year-old has been working around the clock to build the artwork, which will take pride of place at The Centre in Livingston. Residents will be invited to attend the unveiling of the artwork this summer.

Lancashire-born Maggy said: “The mosaic has taken around eight months to build and I am looking forward to seeing the reactions of the people of Livingston.”

Her work is inspired by the River Almond and incorporates elements of the flora and fauna found on the Dedridge Burn nature trail.

Maggy added: “We have tried to incorporate birds and animals so the people of Livingston can enjoy the artwork whilst stimulating their imagination at the same time.”
