A MAN has been accused of punching a one-month-old baby in the face during a disturbance in a Lothian charity shop.

Russell Griffin, of Musselburgh, allegedly assaulted the baby during an incident at the town’s Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity store on October 8, 2012.

Griffin did not appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday, but pleaded not guilty to the charge by letter. The 54-year-old will return to court to face the charges next month.
