A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the back of a coach in central Edinburgh.

The accident occurred at around 11am on Thursday in Queensferry Street near to Zizzi restaurant, where a Renault Scenic car crashed into the back of a X60 Express coach.

A 42-year-old man, understood to have been behind the wheel of the Renault Scenic, was arrested by police following the crash.

Around a dozen officers and three police cars attended the scene.

A recovery vehicle arrived to tow the damaged car away.

The road is currently blocked and traffic disruption is to be expected in the area around Queensferry Street.

No injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called ​to the Hope Street area of Edinburgh around 10.50am following a crash between a Renault Scenic and a bus. There were no injuries and the road is currently blocked, with recovery work ongoing.

"A 42-year-old man has been arrested following the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
