Man arrested over armed theft in Ormiston

A man has been arrested and charged following an armed robbery at a convenience story.

The incident took place at the Cooperative store in Ormiston.

Staff were threatened and an airgun was fired during the incident at the Cooperative store in Ormiston last month.

A 23-year-old male member of staff sustained a minor injury during the robbery, which took place at 10.15pm on February 19.

Police said a 35-year-old man had now been arrested and charged and had been scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: “Police in East Lothian have arrested and charged a 35-year-old man in connection with an attempted armed robbery that happened at the Cooperative store in Ormiston.”
