A MAN has been cleared of leaving a teenager scarred for life after a bottle was thrown into a crowd at a nightclub.
Darren Tait, 23, had denied culpably and recklessly throwing a beer bottle at Grand Central in Livingston.
He was found not guilty by Sheriff Douglas Kinloch after the jury was shown CCTV footage which suggested Tait, from Livingston, was not guilty of throwing the bottle.
Earlier, Livingston Sheriff Court heard that the glass container smashed in the face of 18-year-old Hannah Wood, who was on a birthday party night out with friends at the nightclub, on October 9, 2011.
The student suffered horrendous facial injuries which have left her partially blind with a disfiguring scar on her eyebrow.
Her friend, 19-year-old hairdressing student Emma Malcolm, told the court how the bottle came from behind her and hit her friend. She said: “I heard it smash as it hit Hannah. She fell to the ground and had her hands over her face.”
