An elderly man has died after a drainage ditch he was working in collapsed.
The man, 70, was working on a farm near East Linton, East Lothian, when the accident happened at around 3.30pm on Friday.
Police and fire crews tried to free the man, but officers said he died at the scene.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are now investigating the circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesman said next of kin have been informed and there are no suspicious circumstances, adding: “A joint investigation between Police Scotland and HSE will be carried out in order to ascertain the full set of circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
