Man in hospital after 15ft fall at Fort Kinnaird

A man has been hospitalised after falling 15 feet in a retail park on the edge of the city.

Police and paramedics were called to an in Fort Kinnaird, Newcraighall, at 12.30pm today. It is understood the incident happened in a vacant unit at the site.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said the casualty had been taken to hospital. He is believed to be in a serious condition.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh are currently in attendance following an incident at a premises at Fort Kinnaird. The incident occurred today at around 12.30pm after a 57-year-old man sustained serious injuries after an accident at work.

“He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service and is considered to be in a serious condition. Enquiries are ongoing at this time.”

A spokesperson for Fort Kinnaird said: “We can confirm that there has been an incident on site, the matter is being handled by the police and we are unable to comment further at this time.”
