A MAN has appeared in court in connection with the theft of a £47,000 supercar.

Edward Laing, 31, appeared on petition at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

He was charged with theft by housebreaking and the theft of a motor vehicle.

Laing, from West Calder, West Lothian, made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody for further examination.

He is expected to appear for full committal next Tuesday.

The powerful Nissan Skyline R34 GTR – similar to one used in the hit movie The Fast & The Furious – was stolen from a house in Livingston last Wednesday.

Police said after the raid that more than £100,000 worth of jewellery and cash had also been stolen.

Police issued a nationwide appeal for the distinctive motor – registration N40 SKY – thought to be one of only 20 of its kind in the country.

The Metropolitan Police later recovered the car after it was traced in the Sutton area of London.
