Man injured in Holyrood street attack

A MAN has been taken to hospital after being hit in the face and knocked to the ground in a city centre street.

Police have launched a hunt for an assailant who attacked the 36-year-old man outside Sugarhouse Close, in Holyrood Road at 4.40pm on Monday.

The victim was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and later released.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The suspect is described as male, white, in his twenties, 5ft 8ins tall with a slight build and short dark cropped hair.

“Following the assault he made off in a white Transit van.

“Anyone who was in the area and witnessed this incident or who has information that can assist officers with their enquiry is asked to contact police immediately.”
