Krzysztof Druzgala was also given a three year extended sentence at the High Court in Edinburgh today, and placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for raping the 20-year-old on 30 August this year.
Druzgala admitted that he followed his victim when she got off the bus heading to work. He then chased her into the industrial estate in Leith and threatened to kill her before carrying out the brutal rape.
Speaking after the sentencing, Nicky Patrick, Procurator Fiscal for High Court cases in the East of Scotland, said: “Prosecutors take crimes of rape and sexual offences extremely seriously and we are committed to ensuring that all such cases are investigated thoroughly and sensitively and are prosecuted appropriately.
“We want victims to have confidence that they will be treated with the utmost professionalism by the police and our expert prosecutors and we will do all we can to deliver justice.”
