Man punched in face and robbed in Jackson's Entry

The incident happened around 10.30pm on Thursday 11th February in Jackson’s Entry.

A 19-year-old man had removed his wallet from his pocket as he attempted to find a cash machine when two men ran towards him from behind.

The pair knocked the victim to the ground and punched him to the face before stealing his wallet and running off.

Following the attack, the man made his way to St Leonard’s Police Station where he reported the matter.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their ongoing inquiries to come forward.

The first suspect is described as white, early twenties around 5ft 8ins or 5ft 9ins tall with a very pale complexion, small stumpy brown teeth, a skinny build, receding hairline forming a v-shape on his forehead, blue eyes and black stud earrings in his ears. He was wearing a grey cotton Adidas tracksuit.

The second suspect is described as white with a tanned complexion, athletic build, dark spiked hair and sunken eyes. He was wearing Puma jogging bottoms and a black hooded top with a gold zipper.

Detective Constable Iain Wallace from the Violence Reduction Unit at Gayfield Police Station said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim, though, thankfully he did not sustain any serious injuries.

“We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to trace those responsible and anyone who was on St Mary’s Street late on Thursday evening and remembers seeing anything suspicious should contact police immediately.

“The victim has provided us with a very detailed description of both suspects and anyone who can assist us in identifying and tracing these men is also asked to get in touch.”
