A MAN who strangled his partner during an argument told police that he “wasn’t trying to kill her”.

Brian Dudgeon, from Stenhouse, left his girlfriend with marks on her neck and on her back, where the 21-year-old had kicked her.

Dudgeon pleaded guilty to assaulting Ms Clark at a house in Livingston on July 3 last year.

Lindsey Armstrong, prosecuting, said Dudgeon had squeezed his ex’s throat, causing her to “feel dizzy”.

When police arrived, Dudgeon held his hands out in front of him and told them: “I’ll be honest. I strangled her, but I wasn’t trying to kill her.”

He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for a year at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday.
