Mark peaks to raise cash

AN animal care assistant will this weekend take part in a mountain climbing challenge in Wales.

Mark Gerrard, from Dalkeith, Midlothian, is aiming to raise funds for prostate cancer research. He will climb three mountains over two days as part of the annual Snowdon 500 challenge.

The 42-year-old, who works at the Royal (Dick) Vet School Hospital for Small Animals, said he was inspired following deaths in his family.

He said: “I am doing this because I lost my uncle to prostate cancer and then my dad passed away from cancer in the lungs two weeks after his brother. A few months later a friend of mine passed away following prostate cancer.”
