Medallion man Rory’s a design hit

A FASHION designer from West Lothian has been awarded a Medallion of Excellence at the “skills Olympics”.

Rory Andrew, who lives in Bathgate, received the award in London. The 20-year-old became a familiar face on London Underground after featuring in a series of advertisements for the “skills Olympics”.

Featuring in the posters was just one of the perks that came with the place on the UK team for the event, which pitted competitors from all over the world against one another in categories ranging from floristry to welding.

Around 1000 competitors from more than 50 countries took part in the four-day event.

Rory, who attended Deans Community High School, was the first person to represent the UK in fashion technology at the contest. He has battled against the odds to make his mark in the fashion world after being diagnosed with dyslexia while at primary school.
