It seems everyone is getting involved in Hallowe’en this year – even Edinburgh Zoo’s meerkats.
The popular animals will see their enclosure transformed into a zombie graveyard today, complete with tombstones containing morsels of their favourite food.
Carved pumpkins will contain more fiendish foods for the meerkats to enjoy.
Michael Livingstone, carnivore keeper at Edinburgh Zoo, said: “This is the first Hallowe’en for our mob of meerkats, so we came up with a zombie graveyard theme for them to explore.
“We have 11 meerkats, so it will be great to watch how the group reacts to the Hallowe’en enrichment, no doubt they will shred the tombstones and pumpkins to bits just to get to their food.”
