MIDLOTHIAN is being billed as the first choice staycation destination for UK holidaymakers this year.
The Surprise Yourself campaign will focus on outdoor activities, food and drink, touring and wildlife opportunities in the area.
An extensive direct mail campaign is targeting 50,000 UK households and features the inspiring elements of the area.
These include the scenery near Roslin Glen and the Pentland Hills, activities such as skiing at Midlothian Snowsports Centre and golfing at some of the area’s fantastic courses.
Visitor attractions such as the five-star National Mining Museum at Newtongrange and Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World at Lasswade are also highlighted.
The campaign has been backed by VisitScotland and been developed in partnership with Midlothian Council.
