THE mother of Mikaeel Kular has been charged with the three-year-old’s murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Rosdeep Adekoya, 33, was detained and questioned by police after her son’s body was discovered in a wooded area behind the home of her sister, Pandeep Kular, in Kirkcaldy, Fife, late on Friday.
Adekoya appeared in private this afternoon before Sheriff Frank Crowe. She made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
She is due to make her next appearance on Tuesday, January 28.
Mikaeel had been reported missing from his home in Ferry Gait Crescent on Thursday morning. It was announced that she had been arrested and charged on Saturday evening.
Mikaeel’s disappearance sparked a huge search, with hundreds of residents in the Muirhouse and Drylaw area joining in a frantic hunt while hundreds of calls were made to a dedicated phone line, after police said he may have got up and left his home alone.
However, their efforts proved to be in vain with the discovery of Mikaeel’s body around 30 miles away from his home, leaving the community reeling.
