THE family of a man who went missing from his home have been informed that a body has been found in a burn, police said today.

The body was discovered in the north west of Armadale, West Lothian yesterday evening, and police are currently treating the death as “unexplained”.

Officers have alerted the family of 52-year-old Thomas Main, who was last seen outside his house in McCallum Court in Armadale at about 8am on Friday, August 16.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body in the fields between Mill Road and Bridgecastle Road in Armadale are ongoing and anyone who can assist officers with their investigation are asked to contact Police Scotland on the non-emergency number 101.”

Police had previously said they were concerned for Mr Main’s safety, as he had not been in contact with his family or friends which was out of character for him.
