MoonWalk appeals for volunteers

A LAST-MINUTE appeal has been launched to find volunteers to help out at this year’s MoonWalk in the Capital.

The event, which sees thousands take to the streets overnight in bras to raise awareness and money for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk, is set to take place on June 9.

Registration for walkers has closed, but organisers are still on the hunt for volunteers to act as route marshals or go to the aid of struggling participants.

This year’s MoonWalk will begin at Inverleith Park, which will be transformed to fit with an Arabian Nights theme.

Michelle Brunton, who is preparing to participate in this year’s Edinburgh MoonWalk, volunteered at the London version earlier this month, helping out in kitchens and on the route.

She said: “Volunteering was brilliant — if I wasn’t walking, I would definitely be doing that. It’s a massive operation and they need help.

“It was infectious and fulfilling in all kinds of ways that you can’t imagine until you give it a try.”
